My daughter complained about me to her piano teacher

And not about the broken arm!

No it is the diet we are on now. I know I need to cut out gluten, my son needs to avoid dairy and I am not cooking 3 separate meals.

So we are all doing gluten-free dairy-free.

Fun.

Not so much.

Anyway, I think the first 2 days have gone pretty well. I don't think anyone has felt deprived too much. The problem is that Daisy is really craving pasta and bread. Not so much on the dairy but a lot on the pasta and bread.

She wants to learn how to make gluten-free ravioli, gnocchi, dumplings, and french toast. She is skipping right past the easier stuff like pancakes for the things we will have to create recipes for.

But she is also intensely craving wheat products which tells me she needs this as much as I do. Maybe if she gets used to eating this way, it will be easier on her later.

  1. Gluten free ravioli or gnocchi !!! Oh no, has it come to this for you all! I'm so sorry, every bit of Italian in me is crying for you all. With the gluten gone and the dairy gone , what is left for you all to eat? Poor Daisy, I feel for her .... I don't think I've gone a day without pasta or bread! I hope you can find good recipes : ) If not, there's always cardboard : )

  2. Found this recipe for you:

    2 lb cooked mashed potatoes
    1 cup white rice flour
    ¾ cup potato starch
    ¼ cup corn starch
    1 tablespoon margarine
    1 tablespoon grated parmesan (optional)
    2 eggs
    salt

Mix all ingredients with hands. Knead lightly. Shape small portions of the dough into long snakes. On a floured surface, cut snakes into small pieces. Place a few gnocchi in salted boiling water. As the gnocchi rise to the top of the pot, remove them with a slotted spoon. Repeat until all are cooked. Cover with hot tomato sauce and serve. You can he re-heat them using a microwave oven.
